This is a handmade unique book made by Joe Brainard’s long-time lover and collaborator, Kenward Elmslie, as a gift for Beverly Corbett, another of Joe’s close friends. The cover is a color photocopy of a photograph of Joe inscribed to Kenward mounted to a cover of handmade paper. The interior comprises 16 loose proof pages from Kenward’s book Bare Bones (Bamberger Books, 1995), which was written after Joe’s death on May 25, 1994 and intimately describes their relationship. It is inscribed to Beverly, Nov. 27, 1994 and with a few holograph corrections to the text in Kenward’s hand. Fine.
