Subtitled: “How I got to San Francisco, clerked at City Lights, started a little magazine, published William Burroughs, and landed in Vermont as editor of Something Else Press,” My Adventures in Fugitive Literature provides a vivid first person account of Jan Herman's years in the small press underground of the 1960s and 1970s. His magazine, The San Francisco Earthquake, and Nova Broadcast Press published Beat, post-beat and Fluxus writers and artists including William S. Burroughs, Brion Gysin, Allen Ginsberg, Carl Weissner, Wolf Vostell, Norman O. Mustill, Mary Beach, Claude Pélieu, Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Ed Sanders, Ferdinand Kriwet, Ed Ruscha and Dick Higgins. From 1972–1974, Herman was editor in chief of Something Else Press.

My Adventures in Fugitive Literature is illustrated throughout with color photographs and reproductions. The book was designed by Diane Bertolo at Lotus + Pixel. This is from an edition of 100 copies of which 30 are numbered and signed. Out-of-print. Signed edition. Fine.
