Card, 3 3/8 x 5 15/16 in. The card announces an exhition of Reed's work at "Semina Gallery of the Pure, Boardwalk 3 Larkspur, Calif. between the hours of 3 & 5 pm Sunday January 17, [1960]." It features a portrait photograph (3 3/8 x 3 5/8 in. gelatin silver print, tipped-on) titled "John Reed 1960" by Wallace Berman and is addressed in Berman's hand "To Whalen–Lou–Etc. 1713 Buchanan San Francisco," postmarked Jan. 1960. "Lou" is Lew Welch who was sharing the house with Whalen and others. Described by George Herms as "one of the most mysterious characters on the scene, " John Reed (1933–2001) published two poems and three drawings in Semina (Semina Culture, p. 242). Evidence of absent postage stamp, slightly age-toned on front, moreso on verso and with a shallow bend to upper left corner.
