Many poets, writers, and artists contributed new verses to the classic hymn and this publication is "dedicated to the memory of Janis Joplin who sang Amazing Grace so beautifully." Contributors include: Robert Creeley, Jane Wodening, Allen Ginsberg, Pete Seeger, Anne Waldman, Pauline Oliveros, Jim Carroll, Diane Wakoski, Tuli Kupferberg, Bob Holman, Maureen Owen, Robert Hunter, Eileen Myles among others. This publication was made as a performer's script for a benefit performance for the Poetry Project held Nov. 15, 1995 at St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery. Musicians and singers include Coby Baty, Jim Carroll, Diane Feldman, Allen Ginsberg, Gary Lucas, Rebecca Moore, Ed Sanders and others. Very good. Scarce.
