Women and Cars.
Women's Studio Workshop and Paradise Press, 1983. Item #2986
Printed paper over boards, 5 1/8 x 8 1/8 in. Women and Cars is a "flag book," an artists' book that incorporates an accordion-fold binding structure developed by Hedi Kyle. "This book contains stories about women and their cars, from my mother, to aunts, to Gertrude Stein. After my move to L.A. I couldn't help thinking about these stories, and women's mobility." (Susan King website). This is from an edition of 500 copies produced by Susan King during a residency at Women's Studio Workshop. This is a classic work of book art by one of the most influential artists working in the field. This copy is inscribed and signed by Susan King to a fellow book artist. A very good copy with minor handling.
