TKS 2020 Complete with Original Artworks.

TKS, 2020. Item #2582

TKS is a small edition publishing project, whose name draws on a rogue Granary Books publishing name—Tibetan Kite Society—and the editorial annotation "tk." In that spirit, the project explores the idea of "the books to come," drawing on a range of printing techniques and poetic influences.

TKS publishing is cross-generational in its inquiry, though its inaugural year primarily features the works of younger poets and artists. Commentary on poets including Gerrit Lansing, Diane di Prima, and others aligns with references to alchemy, daily life, the political state of America, and the archive.

Books and cards are rendered with repeating physical motifs of glassine, cream-colored papers, and tones of purple, green, and pink.

This is a complete collection of all TKS editions published in 2020, as well as an original artwork from In Shelter and original collage from Artificial Respiration. The copy of Artificial Respiration is furthermore one of 13 special versions, distinguished by a hole and thread for hanging as a calendar.

The first three versions of this set also included an item of publisher's ephemera, such as proof copy, that spoke to the bookmaking process.

The set is envisioned as a teaching resource, to generate conversation about the differences between original and printed artworks.

Titles include:

M. C. Kinniburgh. Messy Archivist. Saddle-stitched in assorted paper wrappers with translucent purple colophon.

Brent Pilane Pheto. In Shelter. Sewn in St. Armand Canal paper wrappers with transculent purple flyleafs and printed purple spine. This is from an edition of 66 copies, signed and numbered by the artist. Includes original signed artwork.

Conley Lowrance and Sarah Monks. Artificial Respiration. Saddle-stitched burgundy wrappers with rubberstamped cover. Pink foreedge and full color collages for poem "calendar." Housed in lavender glassine envelope. This is from an edition of 77 copies, signed and numbered by the poet and artist; this is one of 13 copies in a special edition with punched hole for wall hanging and colored thread. Includes original signed collage.

This is from an edition of 100 copies, printed on the occasion of poetry reading in Red Hook (near her place of birth) to facilitate group reading of poem.
