This is the program for the world premiere of The Artist, with music by Paul Reif, visualization by Larry Rivers, libretto by Kenneth Koch, and stage direction by Gardner Compton. Presented by the Composers' Showcase at the Whitney Museum of American Art, on Monday, April 17, 1972.
Also included is the The Artist, by Kenneth Koch, corner-stapled, five leaves printed rectos only, 8 1/2 x 14 in. This is the libretto, reprinted from Koch's book Thank You and Other Poems (Grove Press, 1962).
The pamphlet is very good, folded twice, slightly wrinkled. The corn-stapled libretto is very good, folded three times, likely for mailing, with toning along the creases and the verso of the final page lightly soiled.
