Hand-sewn in stiff blue printed wrappers, 9 x 9 1/2 in., 8 pp. plus cover. Illustrated by Karl Torok. While Winkfield is now known primarily as a visual artist, this is his first book of poetry, published by Kenward Elmslie's Z Press. After earning degrees at the Leeds College of Art and the Royal College of Art, Winkfield moved to New York City in 1969 and befriended poets including John Ashbery, Ron Padgett, James Schulyer, Barbara Guest, and many others.
This is no. 58 from an edition of 300 numbered copies printed in color at Graphica Press. The first 26 copies have been signed by author and illustrator; 74 copies are hors de commerce. Very good plus to near fine with the slightest shelf wear.
