Twenty-Six Poems. John Godfrey. Adventures in Poetry. 1971.

Twenty-Six Poems.

Adventures in Poetry, 1971. Item #3232

Side-stapled, mimeograph, with original serigraph cover by Robert Indiana. Printed on The Poetry Project at St. Mark's Church's mimeograph machine. Godfrey remembers that Fagin collaborated with Bill Katz to convince Robert Indiana to contribute the cover of this work. The cover is an original serigraph by Indiana, produced at Bouwerie Editions by Bill Katz. Per Godfrey's recollection, Indiana had never produced a serigraph prior to this work.

Godfrey had been writing poetry since 1965, drawing inspiration from the poetry scene in New York City at the time; this was his first book.

This is from an edition of 300 copies, of which 26 were lettered and signed by the poet and artist (though few if any were ever actually signed by Indiana). This from the regular edition, and from the library of Ron Padgett, with his neat pencil signature on title page.

Very good plus, with a minor 1 in. stain on the bottom right corner of the front cover and some mild staining along the bottom edge of the back cover.

Price: $100.00
