Poem for La Malinche.
Bardo Matrix, [1974]. Item #3522
Two folded sheets of rice paper laid in printed cover. The cover features artwork by Dana Young , a four-color print of skeleton in suit with gun on front cover, and two-color print of black silhouette and woman on back cover with “Bureau of Surrealist Research” stamped. The first interior leaf includes six rubber stamp prints; the second includes "Poem for La Malinche" and also has a delicate print on rice paper attached (see photos). This is no. 7 from an edition of 500 copies and is inscribed "Ira Cohen's copy for Petra Vogt April 1, 1974. Chandeen! May Rault preserve us!" Chandeen, from the Persian, is a Muslim girls name meaning "much more" and whose lucky number is 7. Rault is a boys name meaning "adventurer or guider." The actor and artist Petra Vogt was Ira Cohen's companion and collaborator in Kathmandu and her work appears in many Bardo Matrix publications. Near fine.
