The Little Book of a Thousand Eyes.
Smoke-Proof Press, 1996. Item #3804
Half-bound cloth over boards. Cover illustration by Jesse Miller, printed on metal plates in three stages.
As the colophon states, the book was produced entirely by hand: including hand-set type, letterpress printing, and binding by Brad O'Sullivan at the Kavyayantra Press & The Harry Smith Print Shop, at The Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado.
The text is Frankfurt Cream, with Ingres Antique endsheets. The type is Goudy Old Style and Goudy Italic, with Goudy Open display.
The colophon also thanks Janet Rodney, Brian Allen, Matt Corry, Julie Seko, Diana Philips, Jane Dalrymple-Hollo, Rob Lessig, and Andrew Schelling for printing support.
This is from an edition of 50 copies, of which 15 were bound in boards, signed, and numbered with a holograph poem by the author; 5 of these copies are hors commerce.
This is no. 10 of 15 copies in the hardbound edition. Hejinian's holograph poem begins: "There was once a man who thought himself guided by mysterious hands..."
Fine. A beautiful production.
