Lois Elaine Griffith is a poet, visual artist, and founding member of the Nuyorican Poets Café. As a producer and working board member at the Café for several decades, Griffith has been active in New York City’s worlds of Puerto Rican, Afro-Caribbean, and diasporic performance and poetry since the 1970s, including the design of little magazine covers for publications such as Mag City, among others. She has long maintained a practice of verbal/visual works, and this publication contains a series from her journals in 2007, 2012, and 2013.
In her artist statement, Griffith writes:
My art-practice embraces the Vibe and I run with it to see where it leads.
I trust the Vibe gives vision to my eyes.
I trust the Vibe leads my hands to translate the vision.
This is from an edition of 33 copies, of which four are hors commerce. As new.
