Clamshell box with grey cloth over boards and lithograph title on green paper embedded on front panel. Book within is quarter bound burgundy leather and blue cloth over boards. Lithograph title on off-white paper embedded on cover. Bound at the Harvard Bindery by Sam Ellenport, and with a preface by Salman Rushdie.

“A book of approximately 68 pages consisting of numerous etchings, and digitally composed imagery by Tom Phillips, cuneiform and Arabic writing and several pages of text including the first published extracts from Salman Rushdie's new novel The Moor's Last Sigh, in handwritten facsimile.” (Publishers statement).

Etchings, imagery, portraits, excerpts of A Humument, and other documents tipped onto hand-made paper, with tissue paper interleaved throughout to prevent offsetting. A unique and illuminating collaboration and contrast between the two artists.

This is copy G, from an edition of seven copies hors de commerce lettered B through H. There was also a single édition de tête copy, designated Copy A that includes manuscript, artwork, and other original material, along with an edition of 12 copies numbered 1 through 12. All copies signed by both Phillips and Rushdie. Fine in a fine box.
