Intransit: The Philip Whalen Issue.

Toad Press, 1967. Item #3982

Perfect bound yellow wrappers. Issue dedicated to the work of Whalen, containing two pieces, "The Education Continues Along," and "Voyages, a TransPacific Journal."

"The Education Continues Along," written for Clark Coolidge, is reproduced in Whalen's hand, an interesting contrast to the second piece, "Voyages," which is a typed transcription from Whalen's autograph notebook kept during his travels from San Francisco to Kyoto in 1966.

Inscribed with a Christmas greeting to Joanne Kyger by "the fatuous & fabulous" Whalen. Of note, Kyger kept her own journals while traveling through Japan and Indian from 1960–1964 with Gary Snyder and Allen Ginsberg, which would later be published by Tombouctou in 1981.

Fine with minor shelf wear.

Price: $150.00
