The Bee People.
A.C. McClurg and Company, 1899. Item #4171
Yellow cloth over boards. With illustrations by the author throughout. A children's book from the library of Kenward Elmslie, with Elmslie's name plate on the inside of the front cover. Gifted to Elmslie presumably by the poets Lewis Warsh and Anne Waldman, who have inscribed the f.f.e., added a sticker, and laid in a bookmark with an additional message. Inscription reads: "For Kenward - from the Bee People 1968 buzzzz buzzzz." The bookmark reads: "Thank you for the lovely weekend (pronounced oui eek eude) xxx! Anne + Lewis."
Good plus. Cloth is smudged and soiled, with some discoloration along the spine, and toning throughout. Bookmark exhibits a toning band across the top, where it has protruded from the top of the text block. A lovely association copy.
