The Floating Bear, no. 30. November 1964. Diane Di Prima.

The Floating Bear, no. 30. November 1964.

Item #4190

Side-stapled, mimeograph. Cover by Jeanne Marlowe. The 30th issue of di Prima and Amiri Baraka's influential little magazine and newsletter, published after Baraka's departure following no. 25. Per the mailing address on the back, this issue is from the library of John Edgar Webb, editor of the little magazine The Outsider, and was obtained by the bookseller Laurence McGilvery during the publication process of his facsimile edition of The Floating Bear. To create the facsimile, McGilvery removed the staples of the issues used, though this issue remains bound, suggesting it was not used to produce the facsimile.

Contributors include: Ruth Krauss, Alan Marlow [sic], an unknown contributor ("possibly Peter Abelard"), Diane di Prima, Ferencz McNaughton, Carl Solomon, anonymous ("as told to Hubert Selby, Jr."), Herbert Huncke, Gilbert Sorrentino, Allan Kaprow, James Waring, Alex Katz, Howard Schulman, and Anne Wilson.

Very good, with the expected fold from mailing, toning, two light stains on the back cover, and a mild crease along the left-hand side of the text block, suggesting that this copy was folded while read.

Price: $250.00
