The Floating Bear, no. 37. March–July 1969.
Item #4196
Unbound, mimeograph. Cover by Wally [Wallace] Berman. The penultimate issue of The Floating Bear, though originally published as the final issue. The final issue, no. 38, would be published two years later, in 1971, through Allen de Loach's Intrepid Press as Intrepid, no. 20/The Floating Bear, no. 38. This issue has had its staples removed and is from the collection of the bookseller and publisher Laurence McGilvery, who published the facsimile edition of The Floating Bear in 1973. To create the facsimile, McGilvery removed the staples of the issues used, and though this issue has had the staples removed, it does not appear to be the issue used in the published facsimile.
Contributors include: Lenore Kandel, LeRoi Jones, Kirby Doyle, Gary Snyder, Victor Hernández Cruz, Diane di Prima, Michael McClure, Janine Pommy-Vega, a translation from Tao Te Ching by Paul Carus, Dave Cunliffe & Tina Morris, and Freewheelin' Frank, secretary of the San Francisco chapter of the Hells Angels.
Near fine, excepting the removed staples and a minor crease at the upper left-hand corner.
Price: $125.00
