The Floating Bear, no. 36. January–July 1969.

Item #4198

Side-stapled, mimeograph. Cover by Ray Johnson. This issue guest edited by Bill Berkson, and bears his signature inclusion of a "Leon" poem, his collaborative poet-project with Larry Fagin, Ron Padgett, Michael Brownstein, Anne Waldman, Joan Inglis (Fagin), Jim Carroll, and others. The Leon poem here is dedicated to "Leon Crabtree," likely Lee Crabtree, a poet who was close with Ed Sanders and Peter Schjeldahl. He was also referenced as Leon Crabtree the year prior, in the 1968 Leon Press publication Pictures of Leon.

This issue is from the collection of the bookseller and publisher Laurence McGilvery, who published the facsimile edition of The Floating Bear in 1973. To create the facsimile, McGilvery removed the staples of the issues used, though this issue remains stapled.
