The Hotel Wentley Poems.
Joy Street Press, 2006. Item #4237
Saddle-stitched in pictorial wrappers. Cover photograph by Wallace Berman. A bootleg version of Wieners' seminal collection, originally published by Auerhahn Press in 1958 and again, in a second edition, in 1965. As an introduction from the unnamed editor notes, this bootleg edition is based on the 1965 printing, in which the title of Wieners' poem "A Poem for Cocksuckers" was restored from the 1958 censored title, "A Poem for Suckers."
The editor goes on to note that this edition is "for all those poets and fans of Wieners who want these poems on their own but cannot afford the increasingly expensive first or second edition of this book." The press responsible for the bootleg takes its name from the street on which Wieners lived. Of note, Wieners' last name is misspelled on the cover as Weiners, though is reproduced correctly throughout.
Near fine, with light cracking along the spine and minor smudging to the back cover. An interesting piece.
