Black Visions '87: A Salute to the Black Filmmaker.
Tweed Gallery at City Hall Park, 1987. Item #4278
Saddle-stitched in glossy wrappers. Catalog to accompany the exhibition of the same title, a collaboration between the City of New York and the Schomburg Center, and curated by James Briggs Murray.
In his introduction, Murray writes that "the exhibit is in two sections. One is a selection of photographs representing the work of a wide variety of mostly independent Black filmmakers from various parts of the world and various points in history. From Oscar Micheaux to Ousmane Sembène; from Michelle Parkerson to Euzhan Palcy; from Haile Gerima to Julie Dash; and many others. The second section features the work of nine New York based independent Black filmmakers: St. Clair Bourne, Ayoka Chenzira, Kathleen Collins, Bill Greaves, Warrington Hudlin, Woodie King Jr., Spike Lee, Bill Miles and Melvin Van Peebles. An interview with each of the featured filmmakers follows this introduction."
Very good plus, with only mild shelf wear and slight scuffing on the covers.
Price: $150.00
