In July of 1991, West Coast philosopher, ethno-botanist, and psychedelic theoretician Terence McKenna visited Granary’s exhibition of books and prints by Timothy C. Ely. McKenna’s empathetic and eloquent understanding of Ely’s work inspired the present collaboration.
Philip Gallo typographically interpreted McKenna’s text, which was printed letterpress on Rives BFK. The text appears on, around, and between Ely’s original painted and drawn images, which Ely describes as “articulated glossolalia refracted from the writing.”
Bound in painted paper over boards with wire-edge binding by Daniel E. Kelm and staff at the Wide Awake Garage. Housed in a cloth-covered clamshell box by Jill Jevne. This is from an edition of 75 copies, of which 20 are hors commerce and 55 are for sale; each signed by Ely and McKenna. Out-of-print. Fine condition.
