Simon Pettet Archive

Simon Pettet Archive

The complete archive of Simon Pettet, poet, editor and translator closely associated with the second generation New York School poets. He was the editor of the little magazine Saturday Morning, a co-founder and organizer of the Committee for International Poetry, and a longtime friend and collaborator with figures including Rudy Burckhardt, Harry Smith, and Ted Berrigan.

The archive contains drafts of Pettet’s work, including his own poetry as well as his projects related to the work of his friends and mentors, including Rudy Burckhardt and James Schuyler; a robust literary correspondence documenting the New York School’s international reach; files from Pettet’s little magazine Saturday Morning; a unique combination of artists’ files Pettet kept on his contemporaries; working files, especially related to his organizing role at the Committee for International Poetry; and flyers, posters, and original artworks documenting New York City’s downtown literary history from 1977 onward.

The archive is available. Please contact us for complete inventory and price.
