“More imaginative & investigative than a mere checklist, Ted Berrigan: An Annotated Checklist is a portrait of a great poet & his times as seen through his books ... Aaron Fischer did his homework & this charming & telling publication confirms what many of us have known for a long time—Ted is back!”
–Anne Waldman, poet, co-founder of The Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at Naropa University and editor of Nice To See You: Homage to Ted Berrigan
“Many, many thanks for the Ted Berrigan Checklist. It is superbly done. In all my years, I have never seen anything that could compare with it.”
–Robert Wilson, founder of New York’s legendary Phoenix Book Shop, author of Modern Book Collecting
A poignant introduction by Lewis Warsh sets the stage for this fascinating look at the inner workings of the sixties literary underground as seen through the publications of one poet at its epicenter. This book is peppered with anecdotes from many of Ted Berrigan’s friends and publishers, including Anne Waldman and Ron Padgett. Illustrated with 27 “literary pictures”—previously unpublished collaborations between Berrigan and painter George Schneeman, made in the late sixties and early seventies.
Book designed by Philip Gallo, and printed offset in color and black and white. The edition comprises 1000 copies bound in paper wrappers; there are also 52 copies casebound in boards by Jill Jevne, each with an original artwork by George Schneeman. Of the 52 in boards, 26 lettered copies are signed by Ted Berrigan, Lewis Warsh, George Schneeman and Aaron Fischer; the remaining 26 are numbered and signed by Warsh, Schneeman, and Fischer. This is from the edition of 26 numbered and signed copies. As new.
